General Medical Department

A team of able general physicians, dentists, ENTs, ophthalmologists and homeopaths, visits the General Medical Department regularly facilitating the diagnosis of disease and contributes towards the medical well being of the children. A medical record of each student is maintained in the medical room. Apart from the medical treatment, the department provides vitamins and de-worming for the children on a regular basis.

Physiotherapy Unit

The physiotherapy unit of our school has the best infrastructure with the latest equipment and well-trained and experienced physiotherapists. Every year we serve nearly 600-700 patients. Daily 20-25 beneficiaries come for therapy here and are provided with individual as well as group sessions. The parents of these students are also invited from time to time such that they can continue to impart therapy at home.

The unit also deals with a few outpatients, as a social service and imparts therapy to the children under the early intervention program.

Speech Therapy

The speech therapy unit aims to help children with hearing impairment, develop their speech and language skills. This department is functioning successfully and the achievement rate is satisfactory.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy (OT) is a branch of health care that helps people of all ages who have physical, sensory, or cognitive problems. OT can help them regain independence in all areas of their lives. Occupational therapists help with barriers that affect a person’s emotional, social, and physical needs. In Akshya Pratisthan, the OT department helps children with special needs to improve their cognitive, physical, sensory, and motor skills, especially fine motor skills.

Counselling

Counselling refers to talking to a trained professional who can help one in expressing one’s pent up feelings and provide insight into them. In our school individual and group counselling sessions are conducted for all the classes to create and help students on their intellectual, emotional, behavioral and social adjustments in family and society.

Counselling for parents is also conducted to help them to understand their ward’s needs, strenghts, limitations.
